It’s amazing how many of you don’t have any protection set up on key workstations or server machines.

More often than not, it’s not the actual power cut that causes damage (although it is highly disruptive), its when the power comes back on and the electricity surges through the equipment.

A UPS is the most cost effective option for businesses, and allows you to protect the computer for a brief powercut and/or allow the computer to be shutdown safely. Most will not keep the computer running during a prolonged power outage.
