Customer Referral Scheme

As you are probably aware, businesses benefit most from word of mouth referrals or recommendations. There is no better feeling than learning that a new customer has been referred to us by one of you, as it means we are obviously doing something right!

With AKM’s Customer Referral Scheme, simply refer a new customer to us and, depending on what level of Assist they subscribe to, you can earn your business either 1 hour or 2 hours of one of our technicians time onsite - to do with as you wish.

Can’t be bad, especially when you think about all that free time you get for your business without doing very much at all!


Ely Chamber of Commerce

 

 

 

In March 2006, the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and Industry launched the ‘Ely Chamber of Commerce’.

As with the other Local Area Groups (Cambridge, Huntingdonshire, Fenland and Peterborough), the purpose of the local Chambers is to focus on dealing with local issues for local members in their local environment. This is achieved through representation, lobbying, awareness events, local meetings and social events. In addition, the local Chambers, like Ely, will go even further in representing local views and tackling local issues - they will have the freedom to develop and run as the members require in order to meet local needs.

The key objective of the Ely Chamber is to ensure that all types of businesses and industries from Ely and its surrounding villages are represented and that their views are heard. The Chamber has been thrilled with the way local businesses have taken up the gauntlet and formed the local groups to date - volunteers have come forward in great numbers to take up posts and form the steering committees that are already devoting a huge amount of energy and effort to them. AKM’s Tammy Driver is a member of Ely Chamber’s steering committee and is taking an active role in raising awareness of the Chamber’s works and local issues.

STOP PRESS………… On 7 JUNE 2006 BETWEEN 5PM – 7:30PM, the Ely Chamber will be hosting an informal drop in networking event.  All businesses are invited, you do not have to be a Chamber member to come along.  This is a  FREE EVENT and will give you the opportunity to find out more about the Chambers and what they do but also meet a number of like minded businesses in an informal and relaxed environment.  The event is being held at THE SPICE CITY RESTAURANT, FOREHILL, ELY.  Look forward to seeing you there.

Sage Offers

Sage has a couple of offers this month which may benefit your business.

The first is Sage L50 Accounts Version 8 – if you are still on this version, come August you will find that you will not receive any further support on the software, it will not be developed and as a consequence will reach ‘end of life’. What this means to you as a business is that if you do not upgrade to Version 12 now, before the software becomes ‘redundant’ you will loose the upgrade path; therefore you would have to buy the software from new if you ever wanted to get the latest version. A very costly exercise.

Sage is offering a 20% discount off the cost of an upgrade from Version 8 to Version 12 until 31 July 2006.

You may find that you’ll want a ½ day of training to get familiar with the new version and its features. To compliment Sage’s offer AKM are offering a 10% discount for any training booked at the time of ordering the upgrade*.

You can benefit from a 15% discount if you upgrade your current version of Sage Payroll by 30 June 2006. If you have version 11 at the moment, this offer is probably not of great benefit to you, however for those of you with Version 10 or below it would.

The Techie Bit - Email on the Go!

Did you know that, as long as you have internet access, you can get your email anywhere, anytime? This can be via a desktop PC, wireless enabled laptop or a mobile phone with GPRS or EDGE.

Many internet service providers (ISPs) offer a webmail facility. This is simply a website you log into that allows you to read, reply or create messages. Many webmail systems offer the ability to download attachments, scan for viruses and remove spam.

If you have a GPRS PDA, mobile phone or Blackberry, email can be delivered direct to the device. Pocket PC PDAs can be combined with Exchange Server 2003 to take advantage of Outlook Mobile Access which allows your calendar, contacts, tasks and emails to be synchronised on the go. This is ideal for staff who are out of the office and require good communications via email.

AKM can supply a number of solutions to suit any size of business. For small businesses that cannot justify a server with Exchange 2003 installed can subscribe to a Hosted Exchange service which gives you all the features but is externally hosted. For larger businesses or businesses who already have Exchange 2003 solutions can be provided to make the server communicate with mobile devices.
