Backup Assist

Backup Assist Logo

Have you ever wished that there was a Windows Server backup program tailored to your small or medium organization that is simple to use and affordable? Look no further, because AKM are pleased to offer our customers a new product; BackUp Assist is a lightweight, uncomplicated solution that allows users to easily schedule manage and monitor backups to a variety of devices such as tape, hard drive, REV drive, Blueray, CD/DVD and more.

BackUp Assist is different from other products of a similar nature on the market. It has all the features you'll ever need, presented to you in a simplistic and easy-to-understand design and best of all it can be up and running within 10 minutes. One great feature of the program, although it may sound basic, is one that e-mails you to let you know how the last backup went - any problems that came up are detailed and it also tells you the next backup tape you need to put in.

More features
  • Choose the files and directories to include and exclude, on both local and network drivers.
  • Run custom scripts before and after backups.
  • Automatic network drive mapping for backing up remote machines.
  • Automatic scheduling of backups.
  • Create multiple backup jobs.
  • Online exchange server backups.
  • Check backup results remotely.
  • Encryption of backup data.

Optional add-ons
One optional add-on is being able to automatically backup your mail to separate backup files. It extracts Exchange Server mail data to separate PST files, allowing you to restore individual mailboxes and "drag-and-drop" individual emails, calendars, tasks, notes and contacts back into your Exchange Server in minutes rather than hours.

There is also the SQL add-on. This enables BackUp Assist to backup Microsoft SQL Servers, which allows you to have live, online backups of your SQL Server databases, include the SQL backups in your overall backup job, perform a restoration on any SQL server and also restore individual databases to different SQL servers.

Finally there is the advanced open files add-on. With this you can overcome the issues of backing up open or locked files. This is open file management solution with ensures you have complete protection for all your mission critical data by taking a snapshot of your data before commencing the backup. This makes sure that all locked, open and in-use business critical data files can be easily backed up without taking users offline or interrupting any systems that are currently in use,

If you are interested in using BackUp Assist for your business or just want more information, please do not hesitate to contact us by ringing 0845 459 0076 or by e-mail at enquires@akm-it.co.uk.

Stop Press!!!

AKM have formed a partnership with The Copier Warehouse to enhance the service offerings to our customers.

We are repeatedly being asked about copiers, multifunction printers and such like and to date haven't been able to whole heartedly recommend a local company who could provide such a service - until now that is.

The Copier Warehouse is a local company who has been providing services for over 27 years. They specialise in Ricoh, Develop and Konica copiers and printers, and offer a variety of options; lease, buy and rent. Unlike many of their competitors CWL offers a contract free rental which means you are not tied into lengthy agreements and have the flexibility to alter the arrangement as your business needs change.

They offer a very competitive copy charge and the icing on the cake is that as their customers are so important to them they aim to respond to any service call within 2hrs - how's that for service!

We are delighted with this new partnership and are confident that CWL will be able to help our customers with all their copier needs.

Microsoft Word Tip

A tip from one of our satisfied customers..

If you are creating a document in Microsoft Word, and you're going to forward it to somebody else as an attachment (eg a customer), the next person will be able to view any changes to the document that you've made, and can see what you added in, deleted etc.

So if it's a reply to a customer complaint and you say what you really think, then take it back out again, the customer would potentially be able to track your changes and view what you've deleted / amended.

To get around this, Microsoft has a useful add-on to Word that allows you to remove hidden content. Free to download, and it adds a 'remove hidden content' option to the File menu in Microsoft Word.

Ahhh, we haven't got enough sales!

Ahhh, we haven't got enough sales!

Having identified the underlying reasons for needing to increase sales, you can now start looking for appropriate solutions. Below is a selection of potential solutions you may wish to consider.

1. Don't just start advertising everywhere. Spend money on targeted advertising instead of mass media advertising. You don't want to waste your ad pounds on people who aren't interested. Plan out your marketing. Locate places and publications that your target audience would frequent.

2. Increase your profits by concentrating on small details. Improving small things like text size, colour, or graphics can really make a positive difference.

3. Show your prospects how much enthusiasm you have for your product and business. If you're convincing enough, they will be enthusiastic too.

4. End your sales letter or ad copy with a strong closing line. It could be a free bonus, a discount price, a benefit reminder, an ordering deadline, etc.

5. Keep your offers flexible. If you offer a set price for your product, you could offer the people that can't afford it an optional payment plan.

6. Offer your knowledge or consulting as a bonus with your product. You could offer a free 15 or 30-minute consultation. This adds value to your product.

7. Personalize all of your e-mail messages so they get read. Include the recipient's name in the subject line. This will grab people's attention quickly, and is a proven way to get more of your e-mails read.

8. Keep your web site consistent. You don't want to keep things on your web site that are unrelated to the overall theme of the site.

9. Stay away from being too comfortable with your income or life. You should always be making new goals for yourself and developing new sales ideas.
