Those of you who are regular visitors to our website may have noticed the changes happening to it recently. For those of you who don’t, it’s completely different!

We have tried to ensure that we have as much information on our site as possible about all the services we can provide or source. In addition to this, we are one of the very few IT based companies who has all their pricing available for all to view. It’s all part of our drive to ensure that honesty, integrity and accountability are at the forefront of any communications we have.

Sage Accounts ‘Girl Friday’

New Deal Initiative

As part of AKM’s commitment to our Investors in People accreditation and our desire to help develop local individuals, we have begun a 10 week ‘New Deal’ initiative.

Clive has been with us for 4 weeks now, shadowing our technicians and helping out with 1st line support. He is not an IT technician at this stage but shows great promise for the future. You might meet him in the next few weeks as he goes out with our technicians, so any feedback you may have would be appreciated by both Clive and ourselves as he is certainly keen to improve himself and his current skill set.


The Techie Bit - Windows 98 Support

Are you still using Windows 98 in your business?

Then you need to know that Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 98 on 11th July 2006.

If you didn't know, then you should think very carefully about whether now is a good time to upgrade your old computer systems.

Meet the Team... Tammy

Now its time to meet AKM’s other Director: Tammy Driver.

Tammy joined AKM in October 2002 as a Customer Liaison Manager. The role was quite simply to manage the office, its technicians and above all keep our customers happy. The customer liaison aspect of the role was second nature to Tammy as she had come to AKM after working as a Customer Relations Manager for 7 years at Cambridge Cable Ltd/NTL.

The role soon evolved and Tammy very quickly became an integral part of AKM. It was when she left AKM on maternity leave that this was truly realised. But she came back and continued to develop the role to ensure that business objectives were being achieved.

In October 2005, Tammy and Chris completed a management buyout of AKM. The roles remained very similar to before except now there was more responsibility, control and stress!

Tammy is the glue that holds AKM together. She makes sure it runs smoothly, and organises the team so that our customers get the highest level of service at all times. She uses various methods to achieve this, but nagging seems to work best!

Personal bits!

  • Tammy has been with her partner for over 14 years, 7 of which happily married (you get longer for life I hear you cry!)
  • She has a 3 ½ year old son who she adores
  • Tammy enjoys live music and will often accompany her husband at gigs he performs at.
  • She is a mean cook and according to Jonathan makes the best carrot cake he’s ever tasted (all the team look forward to their birthday as they get a cake specially baked for them!)
